Things I like in general: babies, weddings, families (found or made or other), feeeelings, cuddling, caretaking, low-stakes h/c (ie, drunk character/sick character/etc. rather than big traumas). I generally prefer happiness to sadness, talking to misunderstanding, slice of life to Big Events. I'm also super easygoing and all of these generalities are pretty loose and flexible.

I'm a big detailed prompts person, so I tend to err on the side of lots of detail in my letter. I am also a big optional-details-are-optional person, so please ignore what you need to if you're a less detailed prompts person.

The Great Nail Polish Unload of 2014

So for a few years, my main hobby was nail polish, but in the past year or so I've picked up entirely too many hobbies I like better and need use of my hands. Yarn fits my need to own tangible versions of pretty colors at least as well as nail polish ever did, and the amount of time it takes to polish my nails is time I could be spending knitting or sewing or soapmaking or whatever.

So I'm cleaning house, and I would like some of my pretties to go to good homes!

I wanted to stick to links from official websites, but it's pretty easy to find swatches & reviews of anything without a link. Or I'm happy to answer any questions. The prices are pretty nebulous, too; make me an offer, and if you are or will be in the bay area in the near future and will let me hand them over in person I'll straight up knock a dollar off the price of each polish.

The opened & used more than 5 times polishes range from roughly half full to mostly full, fyi.

Hello Dreamwidth! I am still a living person, which all of you know because we interact elsewhere on the internet, but.

I have had a thing in my head that could really only happen long-form, and not Tumblr long-form, but it's been a massive source of anxiety for me so I gave myself a deadline, which was nebulously "before Wiscon", and then missed the deadline, obviously, but the good thing about missing it is I actually feel much more comfortable talking about this post-Wiscon, so here we are.

Anyway! As those of you who saw me at Wiscon and/or in the month or so prior already know, I am no longer using male pronouns and I am going by Heidi again, no longer Paul.

It's been kind of a long process, made super complicated in a bunch of ways by the way I approach queer identity in general and my own identity in specific and the way I have my life organized into discrete spheres and how I need different things in different spheres and a bunch of other stuff that I think would make for some really interesting conversations if I ever unpack it all to a point I feel comfortable talking about it?

(Also complicated by the fact that I have been specifically accused of being a fake trans dude by someone I considered a friend, so for quite a while my thought process was, genuinely, "I guess I will be Paul/he sometimes and Heidi/she sometimes and if I am uncomfortable when I'm Paul at least I won't be proving anybody right", so that was fun)

So, yes, main takeways: Heidi, not Paul, she, not he, and this is an evolution of an identity, not a retraction of a lie.

Hi author! I tend to have lots of very specific fic wants I dwell on and daydream about and sigh over and thus have a hard time giving more general suggestions come Yuletide. That's a failing of my prompting abilities, not a fair representation of my expectations! I take Optional Details Are Optional very seriously, and have never been disappointed with Yuletide gifts that veer from my obnoxious prompts.

So! That said:

In general:
I like fluff and domesticity and kidfic! Getting a house together, moving in together, shopping for curtains, adopting a baby, having a baby, babysitting adventures, whatever. I like character pieces, in-depth looks at what makes someone tick, why they do what they do, what's going on in their heads. I like people who are intrinsically linked together, rivalries that are so long-running they're basically friendships, those sorts of bonds where sometimes it's hard to tell whether they're friends, lovers, or enemies. But above all, I like fic about my favorites, so don't worry about me being picky!

I don't like a/b/o or any universe with that sort of genetic predisposition to sex roles, unhappy endings, and...uh...I think those two just about cover it, actually.

So possibly you noticed I posted one day of the Week In The Life meme and vanished? I took pictures for a few days, then had to pick up a new memory card reader, and when I plugged the reader in it crashed iPhoto, then my entire computer. The kind of crash where afterwards the computer doesn't know it has a hard drive? It was funtimes.

But who cares I am not here for that I am here to show you MAKEUP by which I mean NAIL POLISH because other makeup confuses me. I have a TON of polish (118 bottles! Plus 10 bottles of top coats/base coats/treatments!) so there are a TON of pictures.
