I'm pretty sure I actually wrote this before we even had the Na Na Na video, because I remember thinking the scene with Mikey and Grace getting a gun from a vending machine Jossed what little I had so far. It would probably still work as a generic dystopian future fic, except I never really had a plot beyond "girls being badasses in the desert". Greta owns a guns&ammo store which serves as a base for a bunch of bandom & Disney girl assassins. I knew a bunch of details - Ray and Greta are an item, Manic Panic and nail polish are valuable bartering items, a handful of other things - but didn't have a coherent story.

As told to a friend: "basically ryan is mostly transitioned and totally passing by truckstops and statelines, while william has just barely kind of put words to the general sense of discomfort she's had with her body for years, and she basically looks at this KID who is all Owning It and she kind of uses him as the kickstart motivation to come out and demand people start calling her Billie and she and her. And they date for a while and it's horribly faily and they're friends after that and it's the opposite of horribly faily...i tried so hard to actually write that one but it's one of those fics that just needs to live in my head and influence everything else, i think"

Apparently sometimes I think it's fun to write about Kevin even without pairing him with randoms. I think I abandoned this one because it was going to drift into preachy self-esteem-PSA territory.
